J&J, Village Capital unveil 12 startups building culturally competent care in new accelerator
The companies are supporting 12 culturally competent healthcare startups in a new accelerator. Two of them will get up to $200,000 in grant funding.

A new accelerator launched by Johnson & Johnson and Village Capital is focusing on health equity by focusing on startups delivering culturally competent care.
A dozen startups will join the program, with each taking its own approach to connecting patients to providers and solutions that consider their cultural context.
“Coronavirus has further exacerbated and really called attention to health inequities that we see in the U.S.,” said Heather Matranga, Village Capital’s senior director of strategic innovation in a Zoom interview. “So much of that is around structural issues within the healthcare system as well as the ability to really connect patients with culturally competent healthcare ....

The governor said religious services, and outdoor and indoor spectator events can boost their capacity to 50% if they have vaccinated seating sections. This would apply for graduations and sporting events, as well, reporters said.
Many counties are preparing to drop back into Phase 2 of the Health Washington reopening plan, meaning indoor spaces will have their capacity cut to 25%. Outdoor spaces can have a maximum of 200 people at this level.
Unvaccinated sections will still be permitted at these spaces, Inslee clarified. Your vaccine card or a photo of it are acceptable proofs of vaccination, his office said. If you re sitting in vaccinated sections, you must still wear a mask except while eating or drinking. Social distancing will not be required.
