MIL-OSI Russia: Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov's upcoming participation in the ministerial meeting of the Arctic Council

On May 19-20, Reykjavik (Iceland) will host the 12th ministerial meeting of the Arctic Council (AC) with the participation of the heads of the foreign affairs agencies of the organization’s member countries. The Russian delegation will be headed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov. Following the meeting, the chairmanship of the organization, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, will pass for two years to Russia.
The Arctic Council – an intergovernmental “high-level forum” – was established on September 19, 1996 in Ottawa (Canada) by eight Arctic states: Russia, Denmark, Iceland, Canada, Norway, USA, Finland and Sweden. Six Arctic Indigenous Peoples’ organizations have permanent member status: the Association of Indigenous Peoples of the North, Siberia and the Far East (Russian Federation), the Arctic Athabaskan Council, the International Aleut Association, the Intern ....
