Alcohol campaigners call for mandatory labelling on bottled drinks


Current laws only require firms to show the strength of alcohol, allergens and the container’s volume. 
Any other information, such as ingredients and calorie content is optional – setting it apart from the food and soft drinks industries.
Campaigners believe this is wrong for a product that causes 10 deaths every day in Scotland.

An online meeting organized by the WHO Country Office for the Russian Federation and the WHO European Office for the Prevention and Control of NCDs will present the outcomes of the project on adaptation and validation of the Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test (AUDIT) in the Russian Federation.
The AUDIT was developed by WHO as a practical instrument to screen for alcohol use disorders and to help healthcare workers to identify individuals who would benefit from reducing their alcohol use or quitting drinking altogether. It has become the most widely used screening instrument for alcohol worldwide and was translated into many languages and adapted for different countries, but a Russia-specific country version was lacking so far.
