Big plans revealed for Sassicaia estate as it celebrates 50 years 17th March, 2021 by Patrick Schmitt In an exclusive interview last week, Sassicaia ambassador Priscilla Incisa della Rocchetta told the drinks business that big plans were afoot for the Tuscan estate as it marks 50 years since its first wine was made for commercial release. Having unveiled the 2018 Sassicaia to the trade and press last month, Priscilla said that the latest release marked the 50 th year since Sassicaia’s inaugural commercialised harvest – which was 1968 – although not strictly the 50 th vintage, as the estate chose not to make a wine in 1969 and ’73. Prior to the 1968 harvest, the wines from Tenuta San Guido were a “private affair”, only to be consumed at the estate. ....

17th March, 2021 by Phoebe French The Scotch Whisky Association (SWA) and Glasgow distiller Whyte and MacKay have filed a lawsuit against a Canadian whisky maker over its alleged misleading branding. As reported by Glacier Media, the lawsuit has been filed against whisky producer MacMhaol-Onfhaidh (Macaloney) Brewers and Distillers, which also goes by the name of Victoria Caledonian Distillery and Twa Dogs Brewery. Reports state that a suit was filed against the Canadian distiller on 5 March, which contains claims that the producer’s branding and use of the word ‘Scotch’ misleads consumers into believing the product is made in Scotland. The document filed at the British Columbia Supreme Court reads: “The plaintiffs do strongly object to the defendant’s misleading branding and marketing of its whiskies, which confuses consumers, prejudices makers of g ....

The 20-year-old woman, who works as an electrician, had sent a message to her boss to say she would be unable to travel to work due to Scotland’s adverse weather conditions last month. The reality, though, was that she appeared to be living her best life with a bottle of champagne – a fact he became all-too-aware of moments later when she accidentally sent her boss a photograph of the fizz. ....
