New Delhi: Bangladeshi foreign minister A.K. Abdul Momen has objected to Indian home minister Amit Shah’s remarks, asserting that the latter’s knowledge about Bangladesh is “very limited”.
Shah, who is campaigning for the West Bengal assembly elections, told the Kolkata-based newspaper
Anandabazar Patrika that poor people from Bangladesh were entering India as even now they did not get enough to eat in their own country. ....

The saree diplomacy bears a deeper significance for India and Bangladesh, for it established the contribution of women into strengthening of diplomatic relations besides cementing bilateral ties.
Back in June 2014, the late Sushma Swaraj steered the diplomatic relations of India with its friendly neighbour on to an unfamiliar but familial road: the saree route.
It was her first standalone overseas visit after taking office as India s external affairs minister, and Swaraj, known for her knack of outwitting her opponents by sheer grace, and presence of mind, overwhelmed Bangladesh and its premier with the Indian warmth.
Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina, departed from protocol on June 26, 2014, and received Swaraj at the reception of her office. She hugged Swaraj and warmly greeted her. ....

NEW DELHI: The Indian Army will participate in a four-nation military exercise in Bangladesh from April 4 to 12 which is being organised to mark the birth centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and 50 years of that country s liberation war, officials said on Thursday.
A 30-member Indian Army team comprising officers, junior commissioned officers (JCOs) and soldiers from the Dogra regiment will participate in the exercise Shantir Ogroshena (front runner of peace), they said. ....
