Lauren Mayer, RN, with UT Health Athens, and Wyntr Liles, RN, with UT Health Cedar Creek Lake, were selected by UT Health East Texas as DAISY Award winners.
 
“This award is for nurses who provide excellent patient care,” said Kevin Jablonski, UT Health Athens chief nursing officer. “While many people are excellent nurses, when someone takes the time to write about their experience – that’s special.”
 
Nurses may be nominated by patients, families and colleagues and the award recipient is chosen by a committee at UT Health East Texas. Both nurses received a formal nomination from their patients. ....

SMITH COUNTY, Texas (KLTV) - A Tyler woman died in a two-vehicle head-on collision that occurred on State Highway 31 East late Saturday night.
According to a press release, Texas Department of Public Safety troopers responded to and investigated the crash at about 10:42 p.m. Saturday. The wreck occurred 0n SH 31 about eight miles east of Tyler.
The preliminary crash report shows that Patrianna Damrye Pettigrew, of Tyler, was driving a 2019 Toyota Camry west on SH 31. ....

UT Health East Texas Physicians on Monday will open a COVID-19 Recovery Clinic at UT Health North Campus Tyler that is designed to treat patients who have recovered from COVID-19 but continue to experience lingering health issues.
At the clinic, a multidisciplinary team will screen, assess, treat and provide referrals for patients who continue to experience negative health effects from COVID-19. The team includes representatives from pulmonary and critical care medicine, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, respiratory therapy, dietary, behavioral health and clinical research. TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - A new opportunity is now being offered to UT Health East Texas patients as the hospital has partnered with TheraNow to offer their patients virtual physical therapy.
With the partnership, patients would get the same level of care as they would get in an actual physical therapy office, but instead it could be done from home. Patients are shown interactive videos on how to do the exercises, as well as a more interactive plans on an app for patients to help continue their rehab outside of sessions. ....
