View Larger + Joseph M. Alberg, 33, of Cumberland passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, July 8, 2021, at his home. He was the beloved son of Philip and Mary (Dunbar) Alberg and brother of Timothy Alberg of Warwick, Matthew Alberg of Warwick, Elizabeth, and Katherine Alberg, both of Cumberland. Born in Providence, he was a 2006 Graduate of Cumberland High School and a member of the Cumberland High School Band, the Jazz Band, and Chorus and Clef Singers. Following graduation, he attended the University of Rhode Island where he graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor s Degree in Music. During his college career, Joseph was a member of the URI Concert Choir, Marching Band, and Wind Symphony. ....

To put Sister Francis Dominici Piscatella’s extraordinarily long life into historical perspective, consider that Pope Pius X was pontiff and Woodrow Wilson was U.S. president when she was born in 1913. Nine popes and 18 presidents later, Sr. Piscatella, a member of the Sisters of St. Dominic of Amityville, N.Y., is defying the aging process while living independently in a condominium apartment she shares with another religious sister at a Long Island village. Sr. Piscatella celebrated her 108th birthday April 20. ....
Edmond J. Ciosek – Cumberland Edmond J. Ciosek, 77, of Cumberland, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 25, 2021, at home. Affectionately known as Ed, he was the only son of the late Edmond & Mary (Groch) Ciosek. Ed met the light of his life, his beautiful Laurie Jean Ciosek (McDevitt) and they were married for 38 years and together they created a beautiful family. Ed was adored by his two sons, Stephen and Phillip August, his daughter Arianna Servant, her husband, Tim Servant, of Attleboro Falls, Mass., and their children Edelman and Teverly. From an early age, Ed was a very dedicated student and became a lifelong learner. After attending St. Patrick School in Valley Falls, he went on to graduate from Cumberland High School in 1961. Ed then attended Dean Junior College (1963) and continued his education at Acadia University in Wolfville, Nova Scotia, graduating in 1966.
