As Dallas-Fort Worth residents continue to grapple with power outages and brave brutally cold temperatures, many city buildings, churches, and nonprofits are opening their doors as warming shelters. Here is a running list of places where people can go to warm up, rest, and charge electronic devices. The list will be updated as more are announced.

Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center Dallas, at 650 S. Griffin St., is home to a warming center opened by the city of Dallas. It s located in Exhibit Hall A. The Kay Bailey Hutchison convention center is Dallas was opened up Friday, Feb. 12, 2021 to give people without shelter a warm place to stay during the bitter sub-freezing temperatures predicted for the coming days. The City arranged for OurCalling to handle the preparation of the center, the intake and the around-the-clock operational management of the project, with funding for the opening of the Convention Center coming from the City of Dallas, and help provide by many other partner agencies.(Ali Hendricksen) ....

Ft. Worth Convention Center Shelter
The city of Fort Worth has extended the hours for the shelter operating at the Fort Worth Convention Center. It is open for residents who are without power through Thursday at noon.
Anyone needing the shelter will need to self-transport to the Convention Center and enter through the Houston Street entrance. The location is 1201 Houston St, Fort Worth, TX 76102.
COVID -19 screening will take place before entering the building and COVID -19 protocols will be in place.
Cots will be provided. People should bring their own blankets.
Food will not be provided. ....
