It’s mid-May in New Jersey, and the signs of summer are everywhere.
Temperatures are comfortably in the 70s and pushing higher, the Garden State is in full bloom and Memorial Day weekend is right around the corner. From Vineland to Newark, from Lambertville to Jersey City, New Jerseyans are ditching the sweatpants of a pandemic winter for the comfort of shorts as they return to the sun-filled outdoors.

March has gotten off to a roaring start, with fierce winds ramping up Monday night and temperatures plunging into the teens and 20s Tuesday morning. If you factor in the wind chill, it has felt as as cold as the single digits in some parts of New Jersey.

Don’t tell the folks of Grover’s Mill that Martians don’t exist.
Grover’s Mill, a section of West Windsor, was ground zero for the fictional (we hope!) Martian attack dramatized by Orson Welles and his Mercury Theatre on a Mischief Night broadcast of Oct. 30, 1938.
Some thought a local water tower was a Martian spaceship. Alas, it was all just a radio show and a severe case of national hysteria.
Van Nest Park at 218 Cranbury Road has a short, 50 yards or so, walk with plaques commemorating the night, and a monument recognizing Grover’s Mill’s role in a very quirky chapter of American history.

South Brunswick Man to Run The Entire Length of Jersey This Weekend

South Brunswick Man to Run The Entire Length of Jersey This Weekend
I am all forgetting in shape and all for challenging myself, but I could never see myself doing something like this! There’s a man trying to run the entire length of New Jersey this weekend!
His name is Cole Crosby. Cole is actually a local! He is a 32 year old man from South Brunswick and runs marathons all the time!
I don’t think many people realize just how long that actually is. To run the entire length of Jersey would be to run about 190 miles. That is insane! I feel like my body would give  out from exhaustion, so more power to him!

A
really long run.
The 32-year-old ultra-marathoner from South Brunswick is attempting to run the length of New Jersey — at least 190 miles — from the High Point Monument to the Cape May Lighthouse, starting at 2 a.m. Saturday.
Crosby said he got the idea from a 2016 documentary, Running the 184, on several runners attempting the same feat. He will be joined this weekend by one of the runners in the movie, who dropped out after 140 miles due to injury.
