The Selbyville Volunteer Fire Company said one of its members was killed while on the scene of a vehicle crash Friday afternoon.
Laura Madara, president of the Ladies Auxiliary, died after sustaining injuries she suffered in a department crash, according to a statement posted to the fire company s Facebook page.
Delaware State Police said Saturday morning that the 56-year-old woman was struck by a Selbyville Fire Police truck that was being utilized to assist with traffic control while on scene for a separate motor vehicle crash.
As the scene was cleared, the truck, being operated by a 79-year-old Selbyville man, reversed into Madara. She was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead. ....

TRAVEL BAN FOR THE HOLIDAYS: Gov. Larry Hogan wants Marylanders to stay at home for the holidays to limit the spread of the coronavirus pandemic and on Thursday he issued an order that prohibits non-essential travel, Bryan Renbaum reports in Maryland Reporter.
Hogan said the state isn’t planning aggressive enforcement of the order, which exempts several nearby states. He said the state is rather relying on the “good faith” of state residents, Alison Knezevich writes for the Sun. ....
