The new bill which was first introduced in January will hold everyone involved accountable including doctors and family members.
Those found guilty of FGM will be jailed for a minimum of five years. If the procedure has caused the victim permanent disability, then the sentence will increase to seven years. ....

“We must have changed society’s understanding of what rape is, and a new consent-based rape provision is a milestone in that effort.”
Denmark has strengthened its rape laws by criminalising sex without explicit consent.
The new law passed by parliament widened the circumstances that could constitute rape - under the old legislation, prosecutors had to show the rapist had used violence or attacked someone who was unable to resist.

Denmark is only the 12th country in Europe to recognise sex without consent as rape
Responding to the passing of a bill in Denmark’s Parliament today that, once law, will recognise that sex without consent is rape, Anna Błuś, Amnesty International’s Women’s Rights Researcher, said:
“This is a great day for women in Denmark as it consigns outdated and dangerous rape laws to the dustbin of history and helps to end pervasive stigma and endemic impunity for this crime.
“Since culture is downstream from law, this is a vital first step towards change. The next task is to start creating a culture where everyone accepts that sex is based on consent and where professionals in the legal system have a high awareness of harmful gender stereotypes and rape myths. ....
