Event to discuss future of manufacturing


Former Chief Executive of Siemens UK and founder of the successful Made Smarter programme, will be the keynote speaker at an online summit looking at the future of manufacturing in Cumbria next week.
Juergen Maier will speak at the event, which is led by Cumbria Local Enterprise Partnership’s (CLEP). It is open to all manufacturing businesses in Cumbria, or to individuals working with manufacturing businesses.
The Summit is taking place on April 15 from 9.30am to 12:30pm, via Zoom videoconference, and will also feature contributions from Alan Cross at the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) and Simon Lee, Supply Chain Director at BAE. ....

The founder of the Made Smarter programme is the keynote speaker at an online business summit next week.
Juergen Maier, the former chief executive of Siemens UK is among the speakers at the summit, organised by Cumbria Local Enterprise Partnership, looking at the future of manufacturing in the county.
The partnership’s Advanced Manufacturing Sector Panel is leading the event, which is open to all manufacturing businesses in Cumbria, or to individuals working with manufacturing businesses.
It takes place on Thursday, April 15 from 9.30am to 12:30pm, via Zoom and will also feature contributions from Alan Cross at the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) and Simon Lee, supply chain director at BAE Systems. ....

Grand Rapids Community College and West Michigan Works! were awarded a $9.8 million U.S. Department of Labor grant to lead a coalition of employers, workforce development organizations, educators and community groups in the One Workforce for West Michigan Manufacturing project.
The project is designed to help people who are unemployed or underemployed gain in-demand manufacturing skills with a focus on automation and artificial intelligence to fill job roles.
“This grant is one in a series of funding opportunities helping GRCC and our partners get our region back to work, and in this case, the manufacturing community is the beneficiary,” GRCC President Bill Pink said. “The number of entities coming together on this project shows how cooperation and collaboration make our region grow and thrive.
