The Human Rights Council this afternoon held its annual interactive debate on the rights of persons with disabilities on the theme “Participation in sport under article 30 of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities”.

(New York) – The Nepal government should immediately withdraw an ordinance that undermines the independence of constitutional human rights bodies and rescind recent appointments that were made without consultation or parliamentary approval, Human Rights Watch, the International Commission of Jurists (ICJ), and Amnesty International said today.

SC and Q22 sign MoU with NHRC to enhance human rights legacy of FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022


The Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC) and the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 LLC (Q22) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the 
National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) to collaborate in raising awareness of human rights issues while continuing to ensure all aspects of human rights are considered in the delivery of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 (Qatar 2022).
The MoU between the parties was signed by Hassan Al Thawadi, Secretary-General of the SC, Dr Ali Samikh Al-Marri, Chairman of the NHRC, and Nasser Al Khater, CEO of Q22.

Doha: The State of Qatar took part in the High-Level Ministerial Meeting held on the sidelines of the World Press Freedom Conference (WPFC 2020) which is hosted by the Kingdom of the Netherlands in cooperation with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco).
The State of Qatar was represented at the meeting by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs H E Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi. In a recorded speech to the meeting, the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs reiterated the commitment of the State of Qatar to promoting and protecting the right to the freedom of expression, and to ensuring a safe environment for free, independent and pluralistic media, as well as the safety of journalists, and the accountability for crimes as agreed upon in various United Nations resolutions and the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, especially Article 16. ....
