As part of his Executive Order on Tackling the Climate Crisis at Home and Abroad (EO 14008) issued on the first day he took office President Biden made significant commitments to renewable energy. These commitments include collaborating with multiple federal agencies in the United States and promoting critical industry support for the acquisition of electric vehicles for the federal fleet, as well as rejoining the Paris Climate Agreement, the landmark international agreement signed in 2015 to limit global warming. The goal is to have net-zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2050.
Former Secretary of State John Kerry was appointed as the international climate envoy, and former Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Gina McCarthy was designated as the domestic climate czar. They have their work cut out for them, as the goal of simply meeting the present Paris Climate Agreement goals may not reduce GHG emissions to the required levels. ....

Biogas - ADBA calls for urgent funding for local authorities to implement separate food waste collections by 2023 - Renewable Energy Magazine, at the heart of clean energy journalism

Separate food waste collections will become mandatory in England from 2023, meaning that local authorities will need to put in place the structure for that now if they are going to be ready for the 2023 deadline, but according to the Anaerobic Digestion and Bioresources Association (ADBA) they also need to be properly funded in order to make this possible without delay.

In its annual monitoring report, published last week, the National Infrastructure Commission reiterated its recommendation - first made in its 2018 National Infrastructure Assessment - to “enable separate food waste collection for households and business for biogas production”.  In 2017, the UK Government made separate food waste collection mandatory in England by 2023 as part of its Resources and Waste Management Strategy. ....
