CAIRO, 15 April 2021 –Special Envoy of the UN Secretary-General and Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) Ján Kubiš concluded today a two-day visit to Cairo where he met with high-level Egyptian officials and the Secretary-General of the League of Arab State (LAS).
Advancing the three-track Libyan dialogues, including the full implementation of the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum (LPDF) Roadmap and of the Ceasefire Agreement, as well as the critical importance of holding of national parliamentary and presidential elections on 24 December 2021, were the focus of discussions between the Special Envoy and Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Sameh Shokry. CAIRO, 15th April, 2021 (WAM) Egypt has strongly condemned the terrorist Houthi militia latest attack on Saudi Arabia by two booby-trapped drones, intercepted by the Coalition Forces.
In a statement, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reaffirmed profound denunciation and total rejection of the continuation of these cowardly subversive aggressions, which represent a flagrant violation of the rules of international and humanitarian law and a direct threat to regional security and stability. This is despite Saudi Arabia s persistent efforts to reach a comprehensive political solution to the protracted Yemeni crisis, it added.
Egypt reiterated its strong support for the Kingdom, in all measures and procedures it takes to protect its security, sovereignty and territorial integrity against these terrorist acts. ....

The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the negotiations that were held in Kinshasa over the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam did not achieve any progress nor did they conclude an agreement on re-launching the negotiations.
“Ethiopia rejected the proposal submitted by Sudan and Egypt supported it by forming an international quartet led by the Democratic Republic of Congo, which heads the African Union to mediate between the three countries,” said ministry spokesman Ahmed Hafez.
He pointed out that “Ethiopia also rejected during the meeting all the proposals and other alternatives put forward by Egypt and supported by Sudan, in order to develop the negotiation process to enable the countries and parties participating in the negotiations as observers to actively engage in the discussions, participate in the conduct of negotiations, and put forward solutions to the controversial technical and legal issues.” ....
