SAN ANTONIO - An El Paso, Texas, woman who witnessed a mass shooting of Latinos at a Walmart in 2019, and provided critical information to state and federal investigators, was deported last week after the Texas attorney general successfully sued to temporarily block President Biden s 100-day pause on deportations.
The 27-year-old was headed home Wednesday when El Paso police stopped her because of a broken brake light, officials said. Officers discovered that the woman had outstanding warrants for unpaid traffic violations and took her into custody. That arrest, along with a 2019 deportation order tied to a drunken-driving conviction ....

HSI-led National IPR Center, International AntiCounterfeiting Coalition join forces to stop counterfeits goods around the world


WASHINGTON – Today, the National Intellectual Property Rights Coordination Center (IPR Center) announced a formal partnership with the International AntiCounterfeiting Coalition (IACC) to protect legitimate manufacturers, retailers and consumers across every sector of the global economy by preventing illegal counterfeit goods from entering the United States.
The IPR Center’s partnership with IACC provides a framework to enhance investigative efforts into intellectual property crime through joint events, law enforcement training, community outreach and information sharing.
Derek N. Benner, executive associate director for Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), a division of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement which oversees the IPR Center, and Bob Barchiesi, IACC President, signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) during a virtual ceremony. ....

A 64-year-old man from Queens, N.Y., has pleaded guilty to a federal drug charge after prosecutors said he conspired to sell thousands of Oxycodone pills throughout the region including at the Foxwoods Resort Casino.
Joseph Anthony Carbone pleaded guilty Tuesday to one count of conspiracy to distribute and to possess with intent to distribute oxycodone, according to the U.S. attorney’s office for the District of Connecticut.
Carbone appeared before U.S. District Judge Kari A. Dooley in Bridgeport, the U.S. attorney’s office said. He was released on $200,000 bond before sentencing. ....
