Are the Colts in a 1 year window to win the Super Bowl? My thoughts. By SilverYoshi on May 23, 2021, 7:30am EDT + I know a lot of people love this team right now as it is built and for the future for how Ballard has drafted the last 4 years (now 5), but there are a lot of factors I have thought about that would make me think we are possibly on a short-term window. Let me explain. 1.) Cap space: We are going to have to re-sign our own coming up after this year. We already have Carson Wentz under a 4 year, $128 million dollar contract (Though the Eagles paid around $25 million of it). That is taking up much more than a rookie contract would. Since Ben Skowronek was a boy in Fort Wayne, he watched the NFL Scouting Combine and fantasized about running the 40-yard dash, wowing scouts and draft analysts across the country. He often pictured it: On the green turf of Lucas Oil Stadium, in front of millions of fans watching on TV not to mention 32 potential employers he was going to show everyone, once and for all, how fast he is. You see, all his life, and Skowronek isn’t exactly sure why, skeptics questioned whether he could run. Maybe it’s the height? A lanky 6-3 receiver, the 220-pound Northwestern and Notre Dame product sometimes doesn’t look like he’s covering as much ground as he actually is. ....

Photo by Al Bello/Getty Images We are only a week out from one of the more entertaining times of the entire year for NFL fans. The NFL released a statement this week where they announced that the salary cap would be set at 182.5 million dollars for the upcoming season. While it is not as low as it could have been, it is still quite a drop from the typical rise we get every offseason. As a result, there are tons of cuts happening around the league to players who, in other offseasons, may have been safe. ....
