Meadow Lake RCMP say that last Sunday around 5:00 a.m., they responded to multiple complaints of an individual using a metal pole to break windows at a residence on the 100 block of 7th Avenue West in the city.
They found a man in the area but he fled the scene. He was arrested shortly after.
Police allege the man had been carrying a bag, which he discarded. Officers say they later seized approximately 42 grams of suspected cocaine from that bag.
Twenty-six year old Brenden Yew of Waseca is charged with drug possession, resisting arrest, having possession of the proceeds of crime, and failing to comply with a release order.

The Edmonton Police Service will be the first police agency in Alberta to launch the HealthIM app aimed at improving responses to calls related to mental health.(Edmonton Police Service)
The Alberta government is investing $789,000 to pilot an app designed to help front-line police officers across the province better respond to mental health crisis calls following a proven track record in other parts of the country.
The HealthIM app is a digital, subscription-based risk-assessment tool developed several years ago by University of Waterloo researchers that's meant to help police screen, de-escalate and track mental health-related calls.

Police officers in Edmonton say they shot and injured a man during a confrontation following an armed standoff at a local home.
Police say they responded to a report of an intoxicated 36-year-old man with a gun who was threatening to harm himself at a home on the city’s north side early Saturday.
Police say a negotiator tried to get the man to surrender peacefully, noting he emerged from the home at one point with both a firearm and an “edged weapon” before going back inside.

Community advocate calls for hate crime laws to change following Rosslyn School incident

“Our investigation currently shows this began as a consensual school yard fight and was part of an ongoing dispute between a group of male youths that reportedly started late last year.”

Haruun Ali, a community advocate and candidate running for Edmonton’s Ward Papastew in the upcoming municipal election, agreed with the chief’s comments about threats.
