National Library Week is April 4 -10 and there are certainly reasons to celebrate it. The Edmonds and Lynnwood Libraries are now offering limited in-building services on top of the current contactless services. Recently, I stopped by to pick up a hold at the Edmonds Library and was offered contactless pick-up or the option to pick-up and checkout on my own, I chose to head in on my own. Walking into the library for the first time in over a year was exciting though a little different as not all of the stacks are available for browsing and at that time, I was the only non- employee to be found. I picked up my hold, which was flanked by the same names I usually see, and walked over to the kids section, picking up a Minecraft joke book on the way to the graphic novels. It was a big hit as it makes my younger son laugh and then rest of us groan, a true win-win for him. ....

Edmonds has three new On the Fence installations viewable through May

The City of Edmonds has unveiled three new On the Fence installations that can be seen at the following locations through May:
Art trA by Minh Carrico, Civic Field, 6th Avenue North

In this installation, “Art” is spelled out from right to left and left to right using the International Code of Signal Flags, printed on a tarp with a graphic pattern using the same flags. The artwork was originally installed as the palindrome “Tattarrattat” on a construction site fence along the Ship Canal in the Fremont neighborhood of Seattle. Edmonds artist Minh Carrico’s current studio practice focuses on producing public art installations and curating gallery exhibitions that examine the issues of citizenship, standardization, and the construction of identities. Carrico’s artwork has been exhibited in museums and galleries across North Ameri ....

Free little art galleries have been sprouting up across the country. This recent trend showcases small art galleries, all under 5 inches. ARTspot is presenting a free little art gallery inspired by @free little art gallery. Visitors are invited to take a piece of miniature art, leave a piece or both! All are welcome, but please leave the tiny patrons and furniture in the gallery. The free little art gallery is located in the kiosk on the front of ARTspot at 408 Main St.
