Ellicott To Vote On Change Of Term Length | News, Sports, Jobs

FALCONER It will be up to the voters in November to decide if the term length for town of Ellicott councilmembers should be extended from two to four years.
On Monday, the Ellicott Town Board held a public hearing on the proposal. Patrick McLaughlin, town supervisor, said no one spoke during a public hearing about Local Law No. 1 dealing with the term length extension. He said following the public hearing, the town board approved the local law.
“It will be on the ballot this fall as a proposition,” he said. “It’s up to the voters now.” ....

Town Looks To Extend Term Lengths For Council Members | News, Sports, Jobs

In November, the voters in the town of Ellicott will determine if council members should serve two additional years.
On Monday, the Ellicott Town Board approved Local Law No. 1 that proposes to extend council member term lengths from two years to four.
Pat McLaughlin, Ellicott supervisor, said the proposition will now be put before town residents during the general election Nov. 2 to determine if the term lengths should be extended.
“We are one of the few towns to have a two-year term for council members,” he said.
McLaughlin said the other three town elected positions– clerk, highway superintendent and supervisor all have four-year term lengths. Also, McLaughlin said there has been times when council members have worked on town projects and then had their terms expire before completion of the project. ....

FALCONER No Ellicott residents attended a public hearing on the expansion project that will be happening at Bush Industries.
On Monday, a public hearing hosted by Carol Rasmussen, Chautauqua County Industrial Development Agency business development manager, was held at the town hall, located at 215 S. Work St., Falconer, on the proposed project. Rasmussen said if the Community Development Block Grant application is successful, the Chautauqua Region Economic Development Corp. will accept the state funding and allocate the money to Bush officials for the expansion project. She said the project is estimated to be $3 million and will create 50 new full-tim ....

FALCONER The Ellicott Town Board approved a resolution that will allow for two more additional units to be built at the Falconer Square project.
On Monday, the board approved a new Payment In Lieu of Taxes agreement because of the change in the number of housing units, which increased from 53 to 55. Pat McLaughlin, Ellicott supervisor, said the only reason the town had to approve the resolution was because it’s the taxing entity for the town, which includes the village of Falconer where the project will be located. ....
