Those turning down the offer will need to sign paperwork acknowledging that they are begging off. Facilities that don’t comply with the new rules may be penalized by as much as $2,000 per violation.
The new guideline has been viewed by critics as the state health department’s way of putting more pressure on the facilities to bridge the gap between vaccinated and unvaccinated staff as nearly half of New York’s nursing home workers haven’t gotten the COVID-19 vaccine. ....

'We don't want your vaccine' say growing numbers of health care workers, nurses and first responders

Final Call News
Concerns about safety and efficacy topped reasons why some medical personnel, firefighters and others are not taking Covid-19 vaccines. Many frontline nurses say information about the vaccines is lacking.
Katarina Thompson, a registered nurse, is also the Service Employees International Union’s chief spokesperson on Covid-19 for its healthcare workers.
Her number one goal, especially with the coronavirus surging, is looking at ways to keep health workers safe versus any vaccination risks.
“We encourage our members to strongly consider becoming vaccinated for the flu for the influenza vaccine at the same time as we fully defend their rights as individuals to decline the flu vaccine. And we continue to defend the rights of our members to decline the covid vaccine,” explained Ms. Thompson. ....

They are front-line workers with top priority access to the COVID-19 vaccine, but they are refusing to take it.
At St. Elizabeth Community Hospital in Tehama County, fewer than half of the 700 hospital workers eligible for the vaccine were willing to take the shot when it was first offered. At Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills, one in five front-line nurses and doctors have declined the shot. Roughly 20% to 40% of the L.A.
