The Lexington native was recently named the new CEO of the J. Smith Young YMCA, a place she used often for summer camps, fitness classes, swim lessons and gymnastics. She is also the first female to lead the local Y.

Rockingham County school leaders considering e-learning academy for for younger students


Education leaders in Rockingham County are considering a virtual option for younger students in the upcoming school year.During Monday night s school board work session, the Board of Education discussed opening an e-learning academy for grades 4-8.This would be for families that prefer virtual learning to in-person.The academy would be capped at 50 students per grade level.Right now, it s only available for high schoolers.A spokesperson says they will probably vote on it during the next board meeting, scheduled for February 8th.
