WILKES-BARRE, Pa. A man charged in connection with a hit-and-run that badly injured a pedestrian has been brought back to Luzerne County.
Unique Jones, 29, was arrested by U.S. Marshals last month in North Carolina.
Authorities believe Jones was driving the car that hit Angela Velazquez along Northampton Street in February.
Family members say the woman broke several bones and had to have one of her legs amputated. ....

Fleeing hit-run suspect returned to Pennsylvania

WILKES-BARRE â A New York man who fled to North Carolina after causing aÂ hit-and-run crash that cost a local woman her leg has been extradited to Pennsylvania, according to authorities.
Unique Levon Jones, 29, was arraigned Tuesday night before Magisterial District Judge Thomas F. Malloy Sr., who denied bail after deeming him a flight risk and a danger to the community.
Jones is facingÂ aggravated assault and reckless endangerment charges in the Feb. 10 crash that severely injured Angela Velazquez, 38, resulting in herÂ right leg being amputated below the knee.
According to her family,Â Velazquez, of Kingston, was on her way to get a money order to pay her rent when she was hit. ....
