Volunteers geared up to tidy the trails. Black Diamond, WA – As a rolling stone gathers no moss, with the arrival of spring, park benches and signs, hillsides and trails were also stripped of their burgeoning detritus this past weekend. Volunteers gathered at Lake Sawyer Regional Park to lend a hand, or a hoe, in their annual effort to keep the park picturesque. The Lake Sawyer Park Foundation led about 15 locals who faced the less-than-fair weather in honor of Earth Day, which is observed annually on April 22, but was celebrated by the foundation on Saturday, April 24. The group spent a few hours cleaning signs and benches, and clearing away invasive plants including blackberry and Scotch broom.

The Ten Trails Community and the City of Black Diamond are partnering to bring new, temporary traffic improvements to the corner of Roberts Drive and State Route 169. These changes will help improve the safety of the intersection while Ten Trails development manager Oakpointe Communities and Black Diamond work together to finalize plans for a future roundabout. Project work includes stormwater control, demolition of the existing Roberts Drive turnoff from State Route 169, and paving a new access road with better sight distance for vehicles. This project is one of many transportation improvements planned as the Ten Trails community continues to grow.
On 01/26/2021, an Officer responded to the 23400 block of Windy Ct in reference to a past burglary that occurred at the 32700 block of Ash Ave SE. It was determined that a burglary did take place and there was a theft from the home.
On Wednesday, 01/27/2021, Officers were dispatched to the 31500 block of Lake Sawyer RD regarding a motor vehicle theft report from the parking lot of the trail head. Owner advised he left the keys in the vehicle when he left to go on a hike and when he returned, the vehicle was gone. There are no suspects at this time. Vehicle information was given to surrounding agencies.

On 11/23/2020, Officers stopped a vehicle in the 28800 block of SR 169 after a Washington State Department of Licensing Records check showed the registered owner had a license status of Suspended in the 3rd Degree. The driver was cited and released at the scene
On 11/24/2020, at 1341 hours, the Black Diamond Police Department was dispatched to a fraud call at the 32700 block of Stuart Ave SE. Contact was made with the complainant who advised that today she received a suspicious call from a person who claimed to be with the Sheriff’s Office. This person advised the complainant that they needed to speak with her regarding suspicious activity with her social security number. The complainant advised that she did not provide the person with any information and told the person that she was calling the police. There is no additional information.
