There is one new case of Covid-19 in managed isolation today.
The Ministry of Health said three cases were also being investigated as historical infections.
The total number of active cases in New Zealand today is 28.

US Sanctions On Russia Amounts To Bullying : China
Beijing firmly rejects fresh unilateral sanctions on Moscow by Washington, says Foreign Ministry spokeswoman.
China on Friday criticized the US for imposing sanctions on Russia, describing the move as bullying.
US announced new sanctions on Russia. Wanton use or threat of use of unilateral sanctions in international relations is nothing but power politics&bullying, China s Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said on Twitter.
She added: China firmly rejects such behavior.
The statement came in reaction to US President Joe Biden s announcement on Thursday of fresh sanctions against the Russian government, including the expulsion of 10 diplomats for alleged election interference and hacking. ....

Following its attempted legal challenge to the banning of grandfathered commissions, the industry body has found favour for a new adviser action against institutions that proactively removed the revenue ahead of the January deadline.

In a recent communication to members, AIOFP executive director Peter Johnston said the adviser association had been approached by “a group of advisers wanting to seek damages against the financial institutions who prematurely shut down their grandfathered revenue during 2020”.
“These [actions] led to hundreds of millions of dollars being retained by the institutions that was legally owned by advisers,” Mr Johnston said.  ....

Death toll mounts in Myanmar as protests, military crackdown persist

Security forces in central Myanmar opened fire on anti-coup protesters on Saturday in violence that a human rights group said has left 550 civilians dead since the February 1 military takeover.
Of those, 46 were children, according to Myanmar s Assistance Association for Political Prisoners. Some 2,751 people have been detained or sentenced, the group said.
Threats of lethal violence and arrests of protesters have failed to suppress daily demonstrations across Myanmar demanding the military step down and reinstate the democratically elected government.
Government forces fired at demonstrators in Monywa city in central Myanmar, according to social media posts. One video showed a group of protesters carrying away a young man with what appeared to be a serious head wound, as gunfire sounded. His condition wasn’t immediately known. ....
