Al Quoz Creative Zone: Dubai's newest creative hub kicks off first workshop

This month, the Dubai government launched Al Quoz Creative Zone, a new hub for creative businesses, including those involved in the visual arts, cinema, music and cultural heritage, to be located in the industrial area of Al Quoz.
To kickstart the initiative, Dubai Culture conducted the first Al Quoz Accelerators workshop, aimed at bringing together committee members from the creative community in order to discuss development plans for the zone and to outline courses of action for the next 100 days.
As a collective effort, our ultimate goal is to become a centre of attraction for creative talents from around the world and to become a global community and capital for the creative economy. ....

UAE's arts and culture experts share hopes for future of Dubai's creative sector

Building artist hubs, launching year-long projects and establishing small music venues are just some of the ways the UAE s leading arts and culture figures believe Dubai can achieve its goal of boosting the creative sector.
A newly launched strategic programme, outlined by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Ruler of Dubai, on Saturday, aims to increase the GDP contribution of the creative and arts sector from 2.6 per cent to 5 per cent by 2025.
Sheikh Mohammed, who is also Vice President and Prime Minister, said design, content, culture and arts will be a major driver for the future of our country”. In his Twitter post, he also noted the programme will generate more jobs and double the number of companies in the industry. ....
