The Shapira Scroll May Actually Be the World's Oldest Biblical Artifact

The Shapira Scroll was first introduced to the world back in 1883 and there has been much debate surrounding its authenticity ever since. But now, a new expert has come forward claiming that it is in fact the real deal and is “actually the oldest known Biblical script” that has ever been found.
The scroll is a paleo-Hebrew script written on fifteen leather strips that contain verses from the book of Deuteronomy and even an 11th commandment, “you should not hate your own brothers: I am God, your God”. A mud-encased mummy has been identified by researchers in Australia

While theories abound as to the reasons this method was used, one possibility is that the mud covering was meant to be a budget attempt at replicating the resin-based procedure of embalmment employed by the ultra rich, who were often mummified with imported resin from the late New Kingdom to the 21st Dynasty, roughly the period from 1294 B.C. to 945 B.C.
Mud is a more affordable material, explained the project s lead researcher Karin Sowada, of the Department of History and Archaeology at Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia.
