Virtual dialogue aims to enhance engagement in fields of Climate Change and Science Diplomacy, says FO

Pakistan held bilateral dialogue with the South Korea on Climate Change and Science to enhance cooperation and explore avenues to deal with climate crisis.
The first round of bilateral dialogue on Climate Change and Science was held between Pakistan and the Republic of Korea (RoK) in a virtual format on Thursday, according to a statement issued by the Foreign Office.
The Pakistan side was led by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Director General (United Nations).
The delegation of RoK was headed by the Director General (Climate Change, Energy, Environment and Scientific Affairs Bureau), Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The ambassadors of Pakistan and RoK in the respective countries also attended the meeting. ....

STOCKHOLM: With impacts from climate change threatening to be as abrupt and far-reaching in the coming years as the current pandemic, leading scientists have released a compilation of the 10 most important insights on the climate from the last year to help inform collective action on the ongoing climate crisis.
In a report presented today to Patricia Espinosa, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), report authors outlined some of 2020 s most important findings within the field of climate science, ranging from improved models that reveal the need for aggressive emission cuts in order to meet the Paris Agreement to the growing use of human rights litigation to catalyze climate action. ....

The COVID-19 crisis has not only led to a health crisis in the developing nations but has been also accompanied by a socio-economic and economic fallout. The Non-Aligned Movement, being the largest representative of the developing world, has stressed on devising measures aimed at mitigating socio-economic and environmental fallout from COVID-19 in a sustainable manner and through cooperation among the developing world.

RIGA - On January 22, the Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Zanda Kalnina Lukasevica, took part in an informal webex meeting on global climate diplomacy between representatives from EU Member States and John Kerry, the United States President’s Special Envoy for Climate, addressing climate diplomacy issues and exchanging views on the ways for speeding the transition to cleaner sources of energy, LETA learned from the ministry.
