PORT ANGELES, Wash. (AP)  A Port Angeles man died in a diving accident while he was harvesting geoducks.
The Peninsula Daily News reports the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office said 35-year-old Anthony Gockerell was pronounced dead Wednesday at Olympic Medical Center in Port Angeles.
Sgt. John Keegan says a 911 call about a commercial diver in distress came in at about 8:30 a.m.
Crew members said Gockerell’s air cord was entangled in debris.
He was brought onboard after a struggle and CPR was ultimately unsuccessful.

Police: Man harvesting geoducks dies in diving accident

Crew members said Gockerell signaled to his crew that his surface-supplied air umbilical cord was “unable to clear.” The crew interpreted that as his cord was entangled in debris, Keegan said.
Gockerell’s crewmates and officers with the state Department of Natural Resources, who were supervising the geoduck harvesting, pulled Gockerell free after a struggle and brought him aboard the commercial fishing boat, Keegan said.
CPR was performed as the boat took Gockerell from the Dungeness West geoduck tract, which is about 6.5 miles (10 kilometers) east of the Coast Guard Station on Ediz Hook, to the Port Angeles Marina. He was pronounced dead at the hospital. ....

One shot instead of two
The Johnson & Johnson vaccine is administered in a single shot, while the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna vaccines are given in two shots several weeks apart.
The way it works
The Johnson & Johnson vaccine uses a different method to prime the body to fight off Covid-19: a viral vector called Ad26. Viral vectors are common viruses that have been genetically altered so that they do not cause illness but can still cause the immune system to build up its defenses. The Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna vaccines use messenger RNA to do that.
How well it works
The Johnson & Johnson vaccine is rated as highly effective at preventing serious illness and death, as the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna vaccines are. It is also very effective at preventing milder illness, though a bit less so than those two. It appears to do well against the highly contagious B.1.351 variant, first identified in South Africa, that has given at least one other vaccine candidate trou ....
