Leader Of 2A Group Apologizes For Blasting GOP Senator Over Sanctuary Bill

A bill making Oklahoma a Second Amendment Sanctuary state is headed to the governor’s desk, but not without some fireworks. 2nd Amendment Association president Don Spencer is offering up a mea culpa after calling for one of the top-ranked Republicans in the state Senate to be voted out of office over an amendment to the state’s Second Amendment Sanctuary legislation.
Spencer says he was frustrated by an amendment offered by Sen. Greg Treat, but says that was no excuse for demanding that Treat be tossed out of office because of it.
The disagreement was over HB 1236, which has 76 Republican authors. ....

Republican leaders of the Oklahoma House and Senate are divided on a bill that would allow a majority of state lawmakers to nullify President Joe Biden s executive orders.
Saying the original bill language was unconstitutional, Senate Pro Tem Greg Treat, R-Oklahoma City, introduced a floor substitute to the legislation from House Speaker Charles McCall, R-Atoka, that enjoyed widespread support among House Republicans.
Over the weekend, Treat came under fire from Republican activists for not supporting House Bill 1236. It s unclear if the Senate leader s proposed substitute will placate his critics who plan to rally at the state Capitol on Tuesday. ....

Former Rep. John Bennett, of Sallisaw, made a name for himself in the Oklahoma Legislature by frequently targeting followers of Islam.
Now, Bennett, who served eight years in the Oklahoma House, is one of three candidates vying to lead the Oklahoma GOP.
In a 2014 town hall meeting, Bennett said the Islamic faith “is a cancer in our nation that needs to be cut out.” He also called the world’s second largest religion a sociopolitical movement intent on world domination and destruction of Western civilization. ....
