New Delhi, May 22 (IANS) With 2,57,299 fresh cases of Covid-19, India on Saturday witnessed the lowest rise in infection since April 21, even as 4,194 people died due to the pandemic in last 24 hours, according to the Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry.

More than 90 percent of Chinese overseas students have not given up their study plans abroad despite the COVID-19 pandemic, a new report showed.
Ninety-one percent of prospective Chinese overseas students said they still plan to study abroad while 92 percent of existing overseas students plan to return to their schools abroad in the near future, according to the annual Report on Chinese Students Overseas Study, released on Thursday. ....

The number of confirmed cases of the coronavirus (COVID-19) in Michigan has risen to 881,057 as of Thursday, including 18,815 deaths, state officials report.
Thursday’s update includes a total of 1,372 new cases and 74 additional deaths, including 61 from a Vital Records review. On Wednesday, Michigan reported a total of 879,685 cases and 18,741 deaths.
Testing has been steady around 35,000 diagnostic tests reported per day on average, with the
7-day positive rate below 7% as of Wednesday, lower than one week ago. Hospitalizations have declined over the last three weeks. ....

OVIEDO. KAZINFORM - After months of isolation, Portugal on Monday reopened its borders to non-essential travel with most European nations, including the UK, Anadolu Agency reports.
Related news
Visitors from European countries with high infection rates – including Croatia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Sweden and the Greek Cypriot administration – will remain excluded.
The move came as a boon to Portugal’s massive tourism industry, which came to an abrupt halt when the country enacted emergency measures to fight a devastating COVID-19 outbreak in January.
Portugal also happens to be one of the 12 countries worldwide with a low enough infection rate to be included on the UK’s coveted «Green List,» which allows quarantine-free travel for returning Brits. ....
