Three summers ago, Lilly Panitch and Brandon Hameier met at the famed D’Jais bar in Belmar as patrons downed shots of alcohol. On Wednesday, the couple got a different kind of shot there their COVID-19 vaccine shots.
Sitting beside a row of wooden stools and underneath party lights, nurses jabbed each of them with their first Pfizer doses. In a corner, a bar worker was setting up a DJ booth in preparation for the nightclub’s opening later this month. ....

D'Jais hands out over 200 COVID shots at popular Belmar nightspot

BELMAR - D Jais on Wednesday turned its bar into a COVID vaccination center, inoculating upwards of 200 mostly young New Jerseyans in a move designed to slow down the pandemic and clear the way for a close-to-normal summer.
The 20-somethings, who normally line up outside for nights of dancing and drinking, instead lined up for a Pfizer shot and a VIP card that will give them discounts to the club this summer.
We re in the business of putting people together, not keeping people apart, D Jais owner Frank Sementa said.
D Jais teamed up with Ocean Health Initiatives to administer the shots, becoming one of a growing number of non-health care businesses that have suddenly have found themselves on the front lines of fighting the pandemic. ....
