Publishing Perspectives readers will remember, the Emirates Airline Festival of Literature this year staged many of its events in physical formats in Dubai, with extensive digital streaming, as the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair now is doing. The festival drew 117,000 attendees.
DUBAI: Renowned US fantasy author Brent Weeks, US author Tayari Jones, Emirati writer Eman Alyousuf and Kuwaiti writer Taleb Alrefai are all set to participate at the upcoming Abu Dhabi International Book Fair.
Organised by the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre at the Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi, the 30th edition of ADIBF will see the participation of more than 800 exhibitors from 46 countries around the world, and will comprise more than 104 virtual and physical sessions.
Dr. Ali bin Tamim, chairman of the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre, said: “Despite the challenges we have faced in the wake of the pandemic, the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair is committed to ramping up its efforts to support the publishing industry and to promote cross-cultural dialogue. 29 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, the festival will feature an expansive programme of cultural, professional and educational elements.
The event is being held under the patronage of Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and is organised by the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre at the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi.

Abu Dhabi International Book Fair Outlines Its 2021 Programming
The Abu Dhabi International Book Fair’s programming is to be entirely streamed live, free of charge, May 23 to 29.

Today (May 11), this major Arab world public-facing show’s umbrella producing bodies the Department of Culture and Tourism and its Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre have announced the outlines of a program that’s expected to be posted soon to the show’s site.
Featured speakers are to include the American author Tayari Jones, the British motivational speaker Vex King, International Publishers Association president Bodour Al Qasimi, bestselling writer Mitch Albom, and the Emirati author Sultan Al Amimi.
