Kenyan doctor dies of COVID-19 -- after opposing vaccine

Karanja died on Thursday in a high-dependency unit of a private hospital in Nairobi, Kenya.
Following the development of vaccines against the virus, misconceptions have been widely spread, thus pushing doubts about inoculation and reducing willingness to receive a jab.
The doctor had said the COVID-19 pandemic is a hoax in a bid to reduce the world’s population, adding that Bill Gates, founder of Microsoft, is also involved in the conspiracy.

Karanja, in a letter on March 3, 2021, said: “There are drugs that have been repurposed and used effectively to treat COVID-19”, adding that “we also know that vaccination for this disease is totally unnecessary making the motivation suspect”. ....

Kenya's Anti-Vaccine Doctor Dies Of Covid | General News


A prominent Kenyan doctor who became an anti-vaccine campaigner and conspiracy theorist has died from the disease.
Dr Stephen Karanja said it was unnecessary to vaccinate Kenyans against Covid-19.
Instead, he argued for steam inhalation and a cocktail of drugs, including hydroxychloroquine and zinc.
He also spread conspiracy theories, involving Bill Gates and population control.
Dr Karanja died on Thursday in the high dependency unit of a private hospital in the capital Nairobi.
More than 800,000 Kenyans have now been vaccinated, with no severe side effects being reported.
Before his death, Dr Karanja was the chair of the Catholic Doctors Association – who described him “as a true medical soldier”. ....
