The Daily Jeffersonian
A Girard woman who once faced an attempted murder charge for a shooting last May on Lakeside Drive in Cambridge, was recently sentenced to 10 months in prison as the result of a negotiated plea agreement that led to a conviction for obstructing justice.
Rebecca L. Montgomery, 32, was given credit for time served in the Guernsey County Jail following her arrest on May 2, 2020. The balance of the prison sentence was then suspended by the court in favor of Community Control Sanctions.
Montgomery was convicted of the fifth-degree felony on Nov. 6, 2020, after pleading guilty to a bill of information filed with the Guernsey County Common Pleas Court eight days earlier.

Commissioners approve new location, security measures for impound lot

New security fencing, cameras and lighting estimated to cost $15,000
The Daily Jeffersonian
Guernsey County commissioners recently approved funding for improvements to a county-owned lot in downtown Cambridge for the relocation of the sheriff's impound lot.
The estimated cost for new fencing, security cameras and lighting at the new location near the intersection of Wheeling Avenue and North Fourth Street is $15,000.
"Security and convenience come into play," said Commissioner Dave Wilson of the plan to relocate the impound lot from a rural location on Old 21 Road (County Road 35) north of Cambridge into the city.
The current lot does not have the security cameras and lighting that will be available at the new location. Access to the lot can be difficult for tow trucks bringing impounded vehicles and equipment to the rural location.
