New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal chairs a review meeting of the preparations made for the Delhi Govt s COVID vaccination rollout plan, in New Delhi.
Authorities at various facilities have said Delhi hospitals are trained to address situations arising out of any adverse effects following the administration of the COVID-19 vaccine dose. The vaccination roll-out is set to begin from Saturday across the country, and 81 sites in Delhi have been chosen for the exercise. These centres, with nearly an even split of government and private hospitals, include six central government facilities - AIIMS, Safdarjung Hospital, RML Hospital, Kalawati Saran Children Hospital and two ESI hospitals. ....

As India s vaccination drive began today with Covid shots to health workers, those receiving Bharat Biotech s Covaxin were asked to sign consent forms that assured compensation if any adverse effect was found linked to the vaccine.
Only recipients of Covaxin have to sign a consent form before being vaccinated because its use has been allowed by the government in clinical trial mode . Among those who received the shot after signing the form were AIIMS chief Dr Randeep Guleria, vaccine committee chief and NITI Aayog member Dr VK Paul and his wife Dr Shashi Paul, a scientist. ....

Healthcare workers get first shots in Delhi amid cheers, applause


The COVID-19 vaccination drive is underway in the national capital with healthcare workers, who were at the forefront of the fight against the pandemic, getting the first shots amid cheers and applause.
Manish Kumar, a sanitation worker, became the first person to receive the vaccine at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) here on Saturday.
At the Delhi government-run Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan (LNJP) Hospital, 48-year-old nurse Biji Tomy, a native of Kerala, was the first person to get the shot.
I am feeling very proud and humbled to be part of this historic moment. We risked our lives and were pained to see so many deaths every day. It is a relief that we have a vaccine against coronavirus now, Tomy told PTI. ....
