College of DuPage will continue to offer a mix of in-person, hybrid, virtual and traditional online courses as part of its measured approach to the fall 2021 semester. Registration for all returning and new students begins Wednesday, May 5, with the fall semester starting Monday, Aug. 23.
Prioritizing the safety and health of students, approximately 30 percent of fall course offerings will be available as full in-person instruction or in a hybrid format that includes partial in-person instruction. Remaining sections will be offered in a traditional online format or as virtual class meetings.
 
College leaders are mindful of the impact COVID-19 has had on our students, said COD President Dr. Brian Caputo. As we continue to navigate the pandemic, we maintain our strong focus on student success, offering flexible, affordable course options to help students ....

Holan re-elected to College of DuPage Board


Heidi Holan bagged nearly 18% of the vote to earn a second-term on the College of DuPage Board of Trustees Tuesday night.
With nearly 70% of the vote counted in the battle for three open seats that carry six-year terms, Holan led all eight candidates with 26,545 votes or 17.52 % . 
In the days leading up to the vote, Holan vowed to continue upholding the school’s mission of the college which is To be a center for excellence in teaching, learning, and cultural experience by providing accessible, affordable, and comprehensive education.
Throughout the campaign, Holan also made it a point of highlighting all the school’s accomplishments during her time on the board, including balancing the budget while keeping taxes low, no labor strikes, the safe and successful transition to online and hybrid services due to COVID-19 and $9 million of debt service cost savings to taxpayers. ....

The College of DuPage Board of Trustees at its Feb. 18 meeting unanimously approved the issuance of approximately $33.7 million in General Obligation Refunding Bonds, which will yield property tax savings for Community College District 502 taxpayers of approximately $9 million.
We are very pleased to take this opportunity to exercise fiscal responsibility and save our taxpayers money, said Board Chairman Christine Fenne.
 
The bonds, issued in 2011 to finance capital projects including building renovations, carried interest rates ranging from 4 percent to 5.25 percent. Through the refunding, the remaining principal balance will be paid off in 2031. ....
