All roads, virtual though they’ve sometimes been this year, have led here.
Commencement, Joint Commissioning and the White Coat Ceremony lie ahead this week, a trio of rites capping the 2020-21 academic year. Norwich University adapted to the coronavirus pandemic and went about its business, led by Dr. Mark Anarumo in his first year as president.
A pair of distinguished military speakers will deliver remarks for the Commencement, which will run at 9 a.m. and noon at Shapiro Fieldhouse and Kreitzberg Arena and Joint Commissioning, which will run at 3 p.m. on Sabine Field at Haynes Family Stadium.

Norwich and Senior Military Colleges will create a program to feed a talent-hungry Defense Department cyberworkforce
Norwich University recently landed a two-year, $19.5 million grant to create a Defense Department Cyber Institute program. This is big news.
As the lead institution among the nation’s six Senior Military Colleges, Norwich will execute $4 million over two years to create a program office to develop an integrated academic infrastructure and feed a talent-hungry Defense Department cyberworkforce.
Two recent news reports outline the cybersecurity worker drought and why this Defense Department grant and project are so big for Norwich and so important for national security. ....

‘Rainbow Six Siege’ esports team opens season with win over Brown University
With eyes on screens, hands on keyboards and minds tactically melded, one of Norwich University’s esports teams shot, blasted and stormed its way to a season-opening “Rainbow Six Siege” victory over Brown University on Feb. 12.
Norwich’s “A” team for “Rainbow Six Siege” used laptops, personal or university-issued to compete in the match, played from 8 to 11 p.m. The team consists of Noah Hamilton (screen name Knack), a sophomore psychology major; Brennden Le (screen name BL), a junior cybersecurity major; Matthew Wright (LuxPoseidon), a senior cybersecurity major; James Tate (PoTe) a freshman electrical and computer engineering major; and Peter Shadwell (Choloman), a sophomore engineering major. Le and Hamilton are co-captains.  ....

Norwich Voices for International Women’s Day, Lunch and Learn session on ‘Pandemia’s Black Feather’ lead events
A virtual Lunch and Learn discussion on Norwich University Uniform Store seamstress and adjunct art instructor Samantha R. Talbot-Kelly’s “Pandemia’s Black Feather” art installation, the annual spoken-word International Women’s Day performance and a virtual job fair for School of Architecture+Art students highlight the week ahead.
The “Lunch and Learn,” from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, will examine “Pandemia’s Black Feather,” on display at the Sullivan Museum and History Center, in a prerecorded discussion between Talbot-Kelly and Katherine Taylor-McBroom, the curator of exhibits and collections. ....
