New form of COVID-19 found in Nueces County: United Kingdom B.1.1.7

Health officials were notified about a local case of the variant by state health officials on Sunday.
A Corpus Christi man between 60 and 70 who had recently visited the United Kingdom because of a family emergency, was diagnosed with B.1.1.7. That strain is a mutant form of the original virus, said Dr. Srikanth Ramachandruni, the local health authority.
This is the second case of the variant reported in Texas.
The man, who returned from the trip in late December, is in isolation and will remain quarantined until he s cleared by the health authority. One of his symptoms is a severe headache and he s expected to recover, Ramachandruni added. ....

The City of Corpus Christi and Nueces County confirmed its first case of the highly contagious B.1.1.7 COVID-19 variant.
A Corpus Christi man aged between 60 and 70 recently traveled to the United Kingdom, where the variant was first discovered. He is in isolation and will remain quarantined until cleared by the local health authority.
Nueces County Judge Barbara Canales said the local community risk indicator has transitioned into the red zone.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas â Wednesday, the Nueces County Commissioners Court voted to allow Bracewell LLP to draft a two-step process that will hopefully attract developers from around the country to bid on the property of the old Nueces County Courthouse.
The process that Bracewell LLP will draft will encourage developers to submit a request for information (RFI), and if those developers are approved, then they will submit a request for proposal (RFP).
âWe donât want it willy-nilly, and thatâs exactly right. Itâs got to be an incredibly thoughtful process,â said County Judge Barbara Canales, on the subject of the proposal. ....
