Ce mercredi 28 juillet à 20h 45, dans l’abbatiale Saint-Michel, la Toison d’Art présente, dans le cadre de sa tournée en France, le Chœur de la Société Philarmonique de Saint-Petersbourg, un Ensemble vocal mixte, sous la direction de Yulia Khutoretskaya. Dans la nouvelle version du programme "Chants de l’Âme Russe", le chœur présentera les chants traditionnels du Mariage Russe Ancien, des chants populaires ainsi que des extraits de la liturgie et des chœurs orthodoxes. Deux expressions de l’"Âme Russe". Un répertoire fait de nuances, de puissance et de virtuosité, Lauréat de nombreux concours internationaux, le Chœur a été créé en 1992 par Yulia Khutoretskaya sous l’appellation de Nouveau Chœur de Chambre de Saint-Pétersbourg. Il réunit des étudiants et diplômés de toutes les grandes écoles musicales de Saint-Pétersbourg. Il a donné de nombreux concerts donnés dans les festivals de musique de Saint-Pétersbourg. Il a été engagé aux "Etoiles des Nuits Blanches", au "Printemps Musical de Saint-Pétersbourg", aux Festivals "Sound Waves", "de l’Avant-garde à Aujourd’hui", "Swing of White Nights" "Arts Square" et a chanté au Festival de Pâques de Moscou. Le chœur a effectué de nombreuses tournées en Lettonie, Allemagne, France, Suisse, Espagne, aux Etats-Unis et au Japon. Le chœur possède un vaste répertoire de chant orthodoxe et traditionnel russe mais également de nombreuses œuvres de compositeurs occidentaux couvrant une large période de l’histoire de la musique, du chant grégorien aux motets de Lotti, Palestrina, Gesualdo ou Bach. Il interprète de nombreux oratorios et aborde les œuvres des grands maîtres de la seconde moitié du XXe siècle, russes ou occidentaux, tels Messiaen, Hindemith, Rachmaninov, Stravinsky… Il a réalisé des enregistrements sous la direction de Sir Georg Solti. Il s’est produit en concert avec Montserrat Caballé, Katia Ricciarelli et autres étoiles du chant. Prix de places : 18€ (réduit 12€). "I think this recording is magnificent. First of all, Karajan is electric in this music. His big moments are huge and his intimate moments are ravishing in beauty and pianissimo. There is a swagger and thrust in the triumphant scene, coupled with stellar singing from the principals and chorus alike that makes me jump up and cheer. I LOVE to singe along with this recording!!!
Despite all that is said of Freni and Carreras in these "big" roles, I think they come off very well. Carreras is not forcing as much as he usually does and sings some wonderful pianissimos along with heroic strength as in the scene with Amneris. Celeste Aida is beautiful, long breathed and slow!
