Speed limit changes on more than 50 roads around Rotorua, including outside some rural schools, could be out for public consultation pending council approval. At a committee meeting last week, Rotorua Lakes Council s Strategy, Policy and Finance Committee recommended the full council consult on changes to speed limits around the area.
Crews responded to four fires on Saturday evening as follows.
Building fire, Desoto Road, 5.08pm Four fire engines put out a blaze which originated from a cooking oil cylinder using two hose reels.
Garden fire, Lanark Gardens, 7.01pm One fire engine put out the flames using a hose reel jet.
Wheelie bin fire, Earle Road, 7.03pm Two wheelie bins had been set alight which were extinguished by a crew from one fire engine.
Garden fire, Francis Close, 9.39pm Crews from Widnes and Runcorn, involving three fire engines, put out the fire and used thermal imaging technology to check for hot spots .
