COVID: 12-15 year-olds could qualify for vaccinations this week

Vaccine hesitancy has become the predominant mindset of Americans who have not yet been inoculated, making the drive for herd immunity ever more elusive.
Just 11% of American adults who remain unvaccinated for COVID-19 say they definitely will get the shot, while 34% say they definitely won’t, according to a new poll by The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research. Another 27% say they probably will and 27% say they probably won’t.
The vaccination rush has slowed, and President Joe Biden met virtually with six governors Tuesday to discuss how to revive momentum. Biden wants 70% of American adults at least partially vaccinated by the Fourth of July. That s about what some experts say is needed to get the pandemic under control. Right now less than half of Americans have received at least one shot. ....

Fact check: No evidence 2-year-old died after getting COVID-19 vaccine

The claim: A 2-year-old girl in Virginia died after receiving the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine during clinical trials
As pharmaceutical companies test vaccine effectiveness in adolescents and children, a post has surfaced on social media claiming a 2-year-old girl in Virginia died after receiving the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is expected to authorize the Pfizer vaccine for adolescents ages 12-15 by mid-May, but studies for children ages 6 months to 11 years are still underway.
The claim originated in an article April 30 from Natural News shared as a screen grab to Facebook on May 1 and headlined, “Two-year-old baby DIES during Pfizer’s Covid-19 vaccine experiments on children.” ....

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — With the normally annual event now reaching it’s final days, KRIS 6 News spoke with visitors and locals alike on what the return of Buc Days has meant to them.
“It’s just something (for people) to get out, do something different,” said Brent Chase. “I think people need to feel like they are still safe and they can get out and do stuff. Just back to normal life.”
Those sentiments were also shared by teens Javari Ayala and Mea Gonzalez who are just friends and were definitely not on a date. The two were having second-thoughts about getting on one of the carnival’s many intimidating rides. ....
