DUBLIN, Ga. On Tuesday, the Dublin VA provided food and COVID-19 vaccines for veterans in need.
The Carl Vinson VA Medical Center joined forces with the USDA Farmers to Families Food Bank for the event. They gave away 150 boxes of food in addition to the 1,000 boxes provided in four previous giveaways.
Due to COVID-19, recipients received their shots and food boxes through a drive-thru style service. VA Director David Whitmer said many veterans still need help because of the pandemic. ....

Carl Vinson VA Medical Center to administer 25,000th vaccine

DUBLIN â Officials with the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center here have announced that Dublin VA will provide its 25,000th COVID-19 vaccination this weekend.
âProviding 25,000 vaccinations is a phenomenal milestone we need to celebrate due to the outstanding teamwork of our staff,â VA center director David. L. Whitmer said in a news release. âNow that President Biden signed the SAVE LIVES Act into law, we began vaccinating all veterans, their spouses, and caregivers over age 18 immediately, which helps improve the safety for families and their communities from COVID-19.â
CVVAMC started its COVID-19 vaccination clinic in late December, first providing vaccines to veterans in the Community Living Center and the staff who care for them. As vaccine quantities became more available, new clinics opened in the population center of the centerâs 49-county catchment along the I-75 corridor. DUBLIN, Ga. The Carl Vinson VA Medical Center in Dublin is having a walk-in vaccination clinic this weekend.
Veterans can walk into the Dublin VA s main auditorium on the second floor to get vaccinated for COVID-19 anytime between 6 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 20 and Sunday, March 21.
A news release says people who are scheduled to get vaccinated over the weekend won t be impacted by the new walk-in clinic.
Veterans who are not enrolled for VA healthcare and want to get a COVID-19 vaccine can come to the walk-in clinic, and there will be enrollment teams to help people before getting their dose. ....

DUBLIN, Ga. (WALB) - The Carl Vinson VA Medical Center is hosting a walk-in COVID-19 vaccine clinic from March 20-21, from 6 a.m.-6:30 p.m. The walk-in clinic will be held in the facilityâs main auditorium, located on the second floor.
âAs we near 20,000 COVID vaccine shots delivered and foresee an increase in vaccine supply, this was the right time to expand for all enrolled veterans at the Carl Vinson VAMC appointments to get vaccinated,â David Whitmer, medical center director, said. âI encourage all veterans to get their vaccination and do their part to end this pandemic together by coming to our walk-in clinic or enrolling in VA healthcare to receive your vaccine sooner. DUBLIN, Ga. It s been almost two years since Navy veteran Gary Steven Pressley died by suicide in the parking lot of the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center in Dublin.
According to legal documents obtained by 13WMAZ, he fatally shot himself in the chest in April 2019 because he was in so much pain.
Those documents also say Pressley was in a serious accident, leaving him with a fractured hip, pelvis, and chronic lower back pain. He was then honorably discharged from the military in 2012. ....
