Nevada regulators tie casino capacity to worker vaccinations

LAS VEGAS (AP) Nevada regulators say casinos seeking the state s OK to raise the current gambling floor occupancy limit above 50% must take steps to encourage their workers to be vaccinated against COVID-19.
The Gaming Control Board and Gaming Commission on Friday issued a memo with guidelines pushing casinos to provide paid time off for employees to be vaccinated, coordinate transportation to vaccine sites and make arrangements with pharmacy companies for vaccine distribution.
The state on March 15 increased maximum gambling floor occupancy at 50% of capacity, up from 25%, and the regulators have been authorized beginning May 1 to approve reopening plans with higher occupancy limits. ....

For the first time in more 40 years, a splashy nightclub is debuting in San Francisco’s Chinatown.
Lion’s Den, opening Friday, is an attempt to return to old times in the neighborhood: The goal is to bring back the glitz and glamour of Chinatown nightclubs from the 1950s and ’60s, when venues drew celebrities as famous as Frank Sinatra. There were live bands and showgirls; patrons wore tuxedos and fine jewelry. ....

RIDGEFIELD When Ridgebury Elementary School’s accidentally unearthed its time capsule from 1977, it led many to wonder where the other schools’ capsules might be or if they’re there at all.
Among them is Darla Shaw, a former English teacher at East Ridge Middle School. Following that discovery, she started to hear from people on social media about their own time capsule. But unlike Ridgebury, the location of East Ridge’s capsule is still a mystery. ....

A Gauteng man’s dream of owning a house has been delayed by a government subsidy scheme for more than a year, despite having an approved bank bond and making R23,000 deposit.
For months, Alfred Lusu, 37, a municipal health and safety officer, has been squatting with friends while his new home at Savanna City, south of Johannesburg, has been waiting for him to take occupancy since December.
