$2,000 scholarships for nurse refresher course still available

Almost half of the nurse refresher course scholarships funded by the Masonic Charity Foundation of Oklahoma are still available to nurses who want to return to the field or enter it for the first time.
Each $2,000 scholarship will pay for the course for a nurse who does not have an active license but wants to return to work, or who never took the board exams.
The statewide nurse refresher course is part of a partnership between the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center Fran and Earl Ziegler College of Nursing and the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education. Ten Oklahoma CareerTech technology centers offer the course. ....

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK The monumental power failure in Texas caused by unseasonable cold showed how extreme weather can push an electric grid to the brink.
The average U.S. power customer loses electricity for 1.5 to 2 hours annually even before extreme weather events are taken into account, according to data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration. As the Texas experience showed, hurricanes, snowstorms, heat waves and other extreme weather events can make such outages dramatically worse.
Customers in Oklahoma state experienced 5.58 hours without power in 2019 0.88 more hours than the national average of 4.7 hours in 2019, which is the most recent information available, according to the EIA. ....
