Granville Kiwanis announce GHS college scholarship award recipients

The Granville Kiwanis has a tradition of annually awarding scholarships to a select number of outstanding graduating seniors from Granville High School (GHS).
The club’s focus is to identify students who have demonstrated leadership abilities and have excelled in community service in high school activities and the Granville Community, according to a Kiwanis news release.
This year’s recipients are Olivia Beckett, Colin Voorhis, Adeline Hampton, and Isabella Rodgers. The awards were presented on May 18, during a ceremony at Granville High School.
Olivia Beckett is accepted at OSU and plans to further her education in Medicine and Spanish to become a physician. She has demonstrated leadership in the Spanish Honors Society, Spanish Club, and GHS Student Council and served as a high school mentor, tutor, and captain varsity athlete in swimming. These are just some of the career paths Granville High School Class of 2021 members envision for themselves as they prepare for graduation and the next steps in their lives.
They also recently reflected upon some of the challenges they’ve encountered and overcome on their way to completing their educations within the Granville Schools system.
Williams to study psychology
Carys Williams next stop will be at Wittenberg University, where she plans to study psychology.
Williams applied to a number of Ohio institutions, was accepted to all of them, but Wittenberg won her heart. “My mom is a Lutheran pastor, and they used to host a lot of gatherings for pastors there. That’s what first got it on my radar. I like the campus and it s close enough to home that I’m happy with it. They just blew me away with how welcoming they were.” ....
