Fiji Covid-19: Two more deaths, 386 new cases

According to the Health Ministry, five of the new cases are contacts of those in isolation at quarantine facilities in Nadi.
The rest of the cases are from the Suva-Nausori containment zone.
Health Secretary James Fong said a 66-year-old woman from Valelevu was declared dead on arrival by doctors at the emergency department of the Colonial War Memorial Hospital.
He said she had died at home or on the way to the hospital.
Her family reported that she had been feeling unwell at home for a few days. She was not vaccinated.
Dr Fong said the second death was reported yesterday as being under investigation to determine if the cause of death was covid-related. ....

College of Agriculture, Food and Rural Enterprises (CAFRE) crops advisors are highlighting the impact that a wet autumn, in which winter cereals were sown over an extended period, has resulted in crops which now range from strong and well-developed to thin and backward.
High winter rainfall has left soil nitrogen (N) levels low – therefore, early N is a priority to kick-start them back into life.
Winter barley requires at least one third of its total N during late tillering, before mid-March and winter wheat the same proportion before the end of March. For thin and struggling crops, sow N earlier to encourage tillering. ....

ISLAMABAD:
A cabinet body has approved to sell majority stake in a government-owned company to the United Kingdom through its controlled entity by converting a 12-year-old “grant” into equity in a legally questionable manner and despite strong opposition from the Ministry of Finance.
The Economic Coordination Committee of the Cabinet on Thursday approved to sell 51% stakes in the Pakistan Credit Guarantee Company (PCGC) to Karandaaz Pakistan.
The UK’s Department for International Development and Bill Gates Melinda Foundation own the Karandaaz – an entity that is set up to give small loans. ....
