The United States of America has provided assistance of 1,534,850 doses of COVID-19 vaccines to Nepal through COVAX. This will complement Nepal’s vaccination drive amid the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Receiving the support at a brief ceremony held at the Prime Minister’s Official Residence, the Rt. Hon. Prime Minister Mr. K P Sharma Oli conveyed sincere gratitude of the Government and people of Nepal to the Government and People of the United States for providing the generous support of vaccines. The Prime Minister also acknowledged with thanks the cooperation received from COVAX and its partner institutions. ....

A shipment of 1.5 million doses of Johnson and Johnson vaccine donated by the United States arrived Monday in Nepal, which is struggling to inoculate its population against the coronavirus.
“Today’s delivery of the single-dose vaccine means that this single donation is enough to protect over 1.5 million people in Nepal,” U.S. Ambassador Randy Berry said at Kathmandu airport.
The U.S. is also donating vaccines to several other Asian countries, including Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand.
Health Minister Krishna Gopal Shrestha said the shipment, obtained through the U.N.-backed COVAX vaccine facility, would be given to people between the ages of 50 and 54. ....

US gives 1.5 million doses of Johnson and Johnson vaccine to Nepal


Kathmandu: Nepal received more than 1.5 million doses of johnson and johnson corona vaccine from the US on Monday. Nepal has received these vaccine doses when the country is facing a serious vaccine fort. This is the first consignment of vaccine received by Nepal. The US has provided 15,34,850 doses to Nepal through the Covax Scheme .
US Ambassador Randy Berry handed over the vaccine to Nepal s health minister Krishna Gopal Shrestha on Monday. Today we are giving nepal enough JNJ Covid-19 vaccine through cowax to completely vaccinate 15 lakh people, Berry wrote after handing over the vaccine to Nepal. I am proud that the US is the only largest country to help Nepal with covid-19. The gift is aimed at saving people s lives on behalf of the American people, Berry added. ....

Nepal on Monday received more than 1.5 million doses of Johnson & Johnson vaccine from the US at the time when the country is facing a severe shortage of the jabs.
This is the first consignment of the single-shot vaccine Nepal has received. The US provided 1,534,850 doses to Nepal through the COVAX scheme, the global Covid vaccine equity plan.
US Ambassador Randy Berry handed over the vaccines to Health Minister Krishna Gopal Shrestha on Monday.
“Today we’re giving Nepal enough #JNJ COVID19 vaccines via #COVAX to fully vaccinate 1.5 million people,” Berry wrote on Twitter after handing over the consignment to Nepal. ....
