Texas Republican Party Chairman Allen West resigned on Friday after less than 11 months in the job, and confirmed speculation that he may challenge Gov. Greg Abbott in the primary.
West, a former one-term Florida congressman and retired Army lieutenant colonel, told WBAP radio that he is prayerfully considering running for governor. ....

Huffines Launches Primary Challenge To Abbott


The race is on for 2022.
Former Texas State Senator Don Huffines on Monday (May 10th) officially launched his campaign for governor, setting up a primary battle with Governor Greg Abbott and whoever else decides to jump into the race.
Huffines served in the Texas Senate from 2015-2019 and was unseated by Democrat Nathan Johnson in 2018. Abbott is seeking his third term as governor and is the early heavy favorite to win the nomination. But that doesn t mean Abbott will skate by. Potential candidates include Republican Party Chairman Allen West and Sid Miller.
In his press release, Huffines said he wanted to take on the federal government and the entrenched elites of the Austin swamp. From his statement: ....

Gary O Connor, the Texas Democratic official who called Senator Tim Scott an oreo, announced his resignation as Lamar County Democratic Party chair on Tuesday.
I am deeply and sincerely sorry for my inappropriate and hurtful use of racist term I used to describe Sen. Tim Scott on my personal Facebook page, he told the
Washington Examiner in a statement. It was insensitive, and I have embarrassed myself and my party by its use.
He continued, As a result, I feel compelled to offer my resignation as chair of the Lamar County Democratic Party for consideration by the County Executive Committee. ....
