Idaho s Risch co-authors bill to speed up tactics that prevent wildfires in the West

Jul. 22 U.S. Sen. Jim Risch, R-Idaho, on Thursday introduced a bill that he said will speed up wildfire prevention tactics and help mitigate large-scale wildfires across the West, according to a news release from the lawmaker s office.
Risch joined Rep. Blake Moore, R-Utah, in introducing the Forest Improvements through Research and Emergency Stewardship for Health Ecosystem Development and Sustainability (FIRESHEDS) Act. The legislation was co-sponsored by Idaho s other senator, Mike Crapo, as well as Republicans John Barrasso of Wyoming and Steve Daines of Montana. ....

(Bloomberg) Republican senators say they’re encouraged about the the prospects for a deal with President Joe Biden on his $2.25 trillion infrastructure proposal after an Oval Office meeting to negotiate over significant areas of disagreement.
Shelley Moore Capito of West Virginia, one of a half dozen senators who attended the talks, called the Thursday discussion “very productive” and said “we’re very encouraged.”
“We think this infrastructure package can carry forward,” she said. “The president has asked us to come back and re-work an offer so that he can then react to that, and then re-offer to us.” ....

U.S. Senators John Boozman and Tom Cotton joined a number of other Senators to introduce the Military Spouse Licensing Relief Act, bipartisan legislation that would give military spouses with valid professional licenses in one state reciprocity in the state where their spouse is currently serving on military orders.
